Theatre News:

West Springfield’s VHSL Northern Region winning one-act Nerdicus (My Brother With Autism) went to the State Finals in Charlottesville on March 8 (the team’s second straight trip to the state finals in a row). They finished 3rd this year, although the play was extremely well-received. Following this, the play was performed two more times – once for the school, once for the community – to appreciative audiences. Next stop: hoped-for publication so that the play can live on in other productions!

Nerdicus made news again! The play’s author/director Bernie DeLeo and star Austin Morrison were featured in the March 23 Washington Post’s Sunday Arts section – click HERE to read the article.

Upcoming Events:

Next up on the West Springfield main stage: The Pajama Game, the swingy 1950s romantic comedy about love in a pajama factory!
The show has been cast and rehearsal start in mid-February.
Mark your calendars for May 1 – 4, and come see this musical collaboration between West Springfield’s Drama & Chorus departments!

And coming in May: The Advanced Theatre 3 & 4 classes will be presenting Shakespeare’s classic comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream out in the library courtyard on May 30 & 31 @ 7:00 p.m. Mr. DeLeo kicks off what he hopes will be an annual tradition of outdoor Shakespeare (“Shakespeare in the Yard”) in late May!
